Perinatal

Are you expecting a child or have you recently welcomed a baby? Are you facing challenges related to pregnancy, birth, or the first months with your child? Famijeunes’ perinatal services offer caring and preventative support, starting in pregnancy and throughout the baby’s first year of life.
Our goal is to support new parents during this intense period, prevent isolation, build confidence, and create bridges to neighborhood resources. The team of perinatal workers, in collaboration with several partners, supports each family according to their reality and at their own pace.
Exemples of activities
In-Home Prenatal Sessions
For expectant parents who cannot travel or prefer an intimate setting. The worker visits the home to discuss pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period, in an atmosphere of trust and respect.
Birth Accompaniment
When a parent is alone or experiencing a vulnerable situation, a worker can be present at the hospital to offer support, comfort, and facilitate communication with the medical team.
In-Home Postnatal Follow-up
Home visits after the birth to offer listening, advice, and support regarding baby care, fatigue, and adaptation to family life. Follow-up can extend until the child is two years old, depending on the needs.
Respite Drop-in (Babies 3 months to 2 years old)
Service integrated into the community daycare: early stimulation activities, observation, and parental support in a safe and caring environment, while the parent rests.
Breastfeeding Drop-in
A lively, welcoming space hosted with the CLSC and Famijeunes to ask questions, weigh your baby, chat with nurses or breastfeeding peer helpers, and meet other parents.
Welcoming Newborns
Inspired by Indigenous rites of passage (in a respectful and non-appropriative approach), this circle gathering is where each parent presents their baby to the community by sharing a word or a wish. Symbolic gestures, songs, and discussions mark this very gentle moment.
Material Support
One-time assistance to meet basic needs.
